Advanced is excited to be exhibiting at NEPCON Japan - Asia’s LARGEST exhibition for Electronics Manufacturing and Surface Mount Technology (SMT). Engineers from around the world will gather at the Tokyo Big Sight from January 18-20, 2012 to learn about the industry’s latest product innovations.

Advanced Interconnections recently signed-on Kaitron Limited to distribute our products in Ireland. With a focus on providing standard and customized interconnect solutions for high reliability applications, Advanced and Kaitron will be able to support the growing automotive test, medical, and aerospace industries in Ireland. According to the Shannon Development website, “Electronics is the largest manufacturing industry in Ireland with over 30,000 people involved in a wide range of sub-sectors including computer systems and sub systems, peripherals and media, electronic components, data communication equipment, control and test systems and consumer electronics.”

Advanced Interconnections (AIC) has published a new brochure online, describing the company’s mission of partnering with customers to provide customized interconnect solutions. The 6-page, Customized Interconnect Solutions brochure describes how AIC combines its vast tool box of technologies and components with 30 years of design engineering experience and in-house manufacturing capabilities. Vertical integration and engineering ingenuity allow for unique solutions that are cost effective from prototype through production volumes.

Rather than creating a costly, custom connector that cannot be easily modified, the company draws from its extensive tool box of components and patented technologies to create a solution from existing and adapted designs that perfectly matches the application. The difference is lower tooling costs, faster time-to-market, and solutions that can be easily modified as project requirements change during development.

The Challenge: As an approved supplier of customized interconnect solutions for military applications, Advanced Interconnections was tasked to create a surface mount connector that would maximize board space with a low profile, 6mm stack height. The mission-critical application demanded proven performance and long-term reliability.

The Advanced® Solution: Advanced’s design engineers literally thought outside of the box on this project – foregoing traditional rectangular configurations for a semi-circle connector which utilizes the perimeter of the PC board. Drawing from our toolbox of easily customized FR-4 insulators, existing fine pitch BGA Socket Adapter terminals (available down to 0.50mm pitch), and in-house, precision CNC machining, Advanced provided a quick design and rough samples for electrical and mechanical testing in less than 5 days.
